From a small kitchen in Jalisco to the heart of Chicago's South Side
El Arandas didn't start as a restaurant. It started as a Sunday tradition — a massive pot of birria simmering for hours while the whole family gathered around the table. The kind of meal where nobody leaves hungry and everybody stays for seconds.
When the family moved to Chicago, that pot went with them. What began as cooking for neighbors soon became something bigger: a restaurant where the recipes haven't changed, the consome is still poured from the same clay pots, and every taco is folded by hand.
